What are habit trackers?
Let me begin by going over what habit trackers are. If you’re not familiar with habit trackers, they are an awesome way to keep track of the habits you are trying to create and they give you a visual representation of how you are doing with them.
I love habit trackers because they really are super helpful when trying to accomplish new goals. There are many different ways to use these habit trackers and I know that everyone has a different style of keeping track so I created 5 different habit trackers that I will be showing you today. I believe habit tracking plays a big role in creating positive habits that can stick with you your whole life. Let’s get started!
Overview of Habit Trackers
These habit trackers are currently in my freebie library for you to grab. I currently have them in GoodNotes and have added them to my 2023 Digital Planner because I like to keep them all in one place with my planner. I’ll be showing you how I do that later in this post.
I’ve created 3 weekly habit trackers, 1 monthly habit tracker and 1 yearly habit tracker. My hope is that you will find one that suits your needs but feel free to download all of them and play around with them until you find the right one for you.
Weekly Habit Trackers
To get started, I will go over the weekly habit trackers. These are the most common ones and you’re able to reuse them indefinitely. What I love about adding them to my digital planner is that I can keep adding them as I go and never have to erase my progress to use the tracker again. All I do is add another page.
One way to use this template is to track your main core habits. Think about the things that you want to be doing every single day. Things like drinking water, getting 8 hours of sleep, journaling, exercising. Whatever it may be that you want to start implementing into your life, you can track it.
For this first one you will write your habits on the lines on the left and you have a space to write down the week at the top. Because I know that sometimes it’s easier to stay consistent when you are able to view your rewards or motivations, I’ve included a spot just for that. I know that for me, personally, it’s much easier to stay committed when I have my motivations and rewards on the same page.
The next one is pretty similar except it’s all about your habits. This one is pretty straightforward but you have the ability to write up to 12 different habits and of course, if you have more, you can always add another page. You can also add the week you’re working on the habit. I think it’s always a great idea to write down the dates in case you want to take a look at all your progress in the future.
The last weekly habit tracker I made is actually a mix between daily and weekly tracking. As you can see this template is split up into 3 sections so you can split up tasks into “Morning,” “Afternoon,” and “Night.” Or, you can split the habits into categories such as school, work, and personal. You will write down the category in the blue space and write your habits in the lines underneath the categories. I love the organization in this one.
Monthly Habit Tracker
Next is my Monthly habit tracker. This is also another common type of habit tracker and I’ve created it so that you can fill in the different habits in the little boxes. If you’re using an annotating app like GoodNotes, you could also turn this into a yearly habit tracker by duplicating the sheet.
Yearly Habit Tracker
Lastly is my yearly habit tracker. This habit tracker is truly amazing because you can see your progress for an entire year! In the past I have loved looking back at yearly trackers and seeing how far I got. It’s also great if you know that you are wanting to track your habits for an entire year and that way you won’t have to set up a new tracker each month or week.
How to get the habit trackers
Okay, now let’s go over what I’m sure you’ve been waiting on. How do you actually get these trackers? So, the first thing you will want to do is go on your device. Whether it’s a phone, tablet, or computer, this will work on all of them. If you want to save your trackers to GoodNotes, I suggest you do this from your iPad or tablet.
The first thing you will want to do is head over to my freebie library.
From here you will scroll down a bit and see this form:
Fill out the form so that I can send you an email with the password to this freebie library. You will receive an email to your email’s inbox. If you don’t see it be sure to check your promotions folder as it may be hiding in there.
Your email will look like this and your password will be right where I’m covering it with my pencil. Make sure to also click “Confirm your subscription” so that you receive any emails I may send in the future with more freebies.
Now that you have the password, you will go back to the freebie library and scroll down on the page where you will see a “Already a member?” section. Click the pink “Log in here” button and you will be redirected to where you can input your password. Input the password from your email and click “Enter.”
Now you can grab the free Digital Habit Trackers as well as any of the other freebies I’ve already placed in here!
How to add the habit trackers to GoodNotes
Now that you know how to get the habit trackers, let me go over how to add them to GoodNotes.
After you click on “Download,” you’ll be automatically redirected to the habit trackers. From here you can download them to wherever you’d like, or even print them out if that’s what you prefer.
I will save them to my 2023 Digital Planner so I will first save them in GoodNotes. I click the share button up at the right corner. Then I click “Open in GoodNotes” and click “Import as New Document.”
From here I take a screenshot of my tracker and save it to my planner.
This planner comes with 6 untitled sections so I will pick the pink one and title it “Habit Tracker.” I’ll click on it and once again, I will name this label “Habit Tracker.” Now that I’ve labeled the journal I will go to the next page and paste my habit tracker right in.
Typically I would want to paste my tracker after my weekly calendar spread but since I am placing this into my 2023 digital planner and 2023 hasn’t started yet, I will create a mini habit tracker journal instead.
I paste my tracker in by going back to my Habit Tracker document and choosing the one I want to use. Then, I click to activate the pen and click the lasso tool. I “Lasso” the sheet then click “Take Screenshot.” I then click the “Share” button and hit “Save Image.” Once the image is saved, I go back to my digital planner and click the “Images” icon. The template is now saved here so I will click on it to add it to my planner. Now I just resize it to make it look just the way I want.
Please let me know if there are any other freebies you’d like me to add. My goal is to make more at least every month including some digital stickers in the near future. But my main goal is to create things that you are interested in and that will help you in your planning journey.
I do want to make a disclaimer and say this is not to be used to put yourself down. Some days you may not check the little circle and that’s totally okay. The sole purpose of the habit trackers is to help you form these habits that you are trying to add to your daily life. You don’t have to look at what you weren’t able to accomplish, but rather, look at how far you’ve come. And the more you do it, the better you’ll get.
The new year is coming up and I know we’re all striving towards accomplishing new goals and I hope these habit trackers will help you accomplish them.
